The researcher of the Power Electronics and Energy Conversion Line of SERC Chile, Sebastián Rivera, has been recognized with the status of senior member of the IEEE, which he describes as “a tremendous honor” that “reaffirms the constancy, meticulousness and dedication to the work done”.

Sebastián Rivera is a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Ryerson in Canada, and an academic from the Universidad de Los Andes. This recognition, he says, “is a motivation to continue advancing and doing high-impact science in Chile.”

Achieving this status at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) requires at least 10 years of professional experience, having obtained academic degrees, demonstrating outstanding performance, and having the endorsement of three IEEE members with outstanding backgrounds.

Despite being an individual achievement, also for the centers in which recognized researchers participate, in this case SERC Chile and AC3E.

SERC Chile has opted to include young researchers and give them the opportunity to work with the most prominent at the national level. Furthermore, “it provides the tools to enhance our capabilities and advance in the academic career, empowering the scientific community”, comments Sebastián Rivera.
